Prof (Capt) Ed Snyders has in excess of 30 years Maritime Education and Training (MET) experience, as well as 10 years of seagoing experience. He served aboard many classes of trading vessels and as Master aboard the research vessels Africana and Algoa, before “swallowing the anchor” and moving to shore-based jobs.
Prof (Capt) Snyders holds, among others, a PhD and a Master certificate of competence. He serves on many university and maritime industry committees. He is currently the Head of Maritime Studies and Survival Centre at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology, which is based at Granger Bay, Cape Town.
