SAMIC 2017 is a follow-up to SAMIC 2012 which was convened by SAMSA to explore what was needed to position South Africa as a maritime nation.
SAMIC 2017 will take this conversation forward.
The intention is to create a platform for strategic conversations among government, industry, investors, entrepreneurs, academia and civil society on developing South Africa’s oceans economy – and to sustain this engagement beyond the conference.
The conference will profile and market South African and African opportunities for investment in the maritime sector, explore and establish a national collaborative framework for oceans economy development, and host a dedicated stream on supporting the development of women in the maritime sector.
Our high-profile delegates are drawn from South & Southern Africa, and Africa, as well as international delegates for funding and investment. Primarily leadership in maritime industry, industry bodies, officials of enabling agencies, industry service providers, government officials; as well as academics, students.
